SIKKIM - STATE ANNUAL PLAN 2001-2002MINES & GEOLOGY DEPARTMENTDEMAND NO. 26Budget Allocation for 2000-01 The Annual Plan size for 2001-2002 of the Department has been fixed at Rs 100.00 lakhs. Detail break up is as under:— 1. Direction & Administration: Rs 20.00 lakhs This sum is proposed to meet up expenses on departmental overheads, purchase of office equipment’s payment of rents, travel expenses, office expenses, purchase of vehicle for the Secondary and purchase of Computers. 2. Research & Development: Rs 19.50 lakhs The provision is made with a view to take up studies of various landslide and other research projects and purchase of equipment’s. The proposed schemes to be taken up are: (i) Stability Zonation mapping of Namchi Town. (ii) Stability Zonation mapping of Geyzing Town. (iii) Geo-Technical studies of Nayabazar Sombaria road section. (iv) Purchase and Establishment of Geo – Technical/Soil Testing Laboratory, and Computer Software. (v) Geo-technical Studies of landslides in different areas. (vi) Purchase of computer with Geographical Information System (G.S.I.). 4. Investment in Sikkim Mining Corporation: Rs 50.00 lakhs For the 9th Five Year Plan, a sum of Rs 150 lakhs was provided for investment in Sikkim Mining Corporation by the Government of Sikkim on the basis of Rs 6.00 crore Authorized Capital. However, with the Increase in Authorized Capital to Rs 10.00 crores, the share to be invested by the Government of Sikkim has increased to Rs 510.00 lakhs on the basis of 51.49 ownership ratio. The Government of Sikkim has invested as sum of Rs 391.00 lakhs till 2000-2001 and Government of India has invested a sum of Rs 402.00 lakhs. A sum of Rs 50.00 lakhs has been set aside to invest in the Corporation during 2001-2002. ABSTRACT
