PRINTING & STATIONERY

DEMAND NO. 33

The Printing and Stationery Department caters to the bulk of printing jobs of various departments of Government of Sikkim for the year 2000-2001, a sum of Rs 70.00 lakhs has been allocated under Plan.

The detailed break up are as follows:-

Directions & Administrations:

Rs 41.50 lakhs (Revenue)

The provision under Directions & Administrations comprises of Salaris, Travel Expenses and the Office Expenses and Rs 3.00 lakhs, 0.50 lakhs and 10.00 lakhs has been allocated respectively for the purpose.

Minor works:

Rs 2.00 lakhs (Revenue)

The Press building has been very old and worn out, its roof is to be renovated very urgently. During heavy rains leakages occurs everywhere and hampers normal functioning of the Press. In order to carry out the renovation works, a sum of Rs 2.00 lakhs has been proposed during the financial year 2001-02.

Research & Training:

Rs 1.50 lakhs (Revenue)

This department has been imparting training to the educated un-employed youth to catch up the trade of printing technology and this department is paying Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand) only per month per head as stipend. During the next financial year this department proposes to impart further training for 9 (nine) candidates for which a sum of Rs 1.50 lakhs has been allocated.

Machinery & Equipments:

Rs 25.00 lakhs (Capital)

The department of Printing & Stationery has proposes to purchase one heavy Gestetner copier with colour drums which would enable us to do the colour jobs within this department. For this purpose a sum of Rs 12.00 lakhs has been allocated. The department also has proposal for replacement of out-dated computers at the total cost of Rs 15.00 lakhs. A sum of Rs 25.00 lakhs has been allocated for purchase of Computers and Gestetner colour copier.
