An amount of Rs 100.00 lakhs has been approved for
the Plan period 2002-2003. The detail break up is indicated as under:—

Direction and Administration Rs
24.00 lakhs
A provision of Rs 24.00 lakhs has been approved and
earmarked to meet up the expenses on Salaries. Travel Expenses, Rents
and Taxes, Office Stationeries, Machinery Equipments and other charges.
Research and Development Rs
15.00 lakhs
An outlay of Rs 15.00 lakhs has been approved and
earmarked to carry out the Plan schemes and meet expenses on other
charges. The Plan schemes undertaken under the concerned Head of Accounts
are as under:-
1. Geo-technical studies and stability zonation
mapping works of Namchi and its surrounding areas, South Sikkim.
2. Geo-technical studies and stability zonation mapping
works of Aho-Pakyong Road section, East Sikkim.
3. Geo-technical studies and stability zonation mapping
works of area between Sankalang and Dzongu, North Sikkim.
4. Geo-technical studies of areas around singtam
and Rangpo, East Sikkim.
5. Purchase of Geo-technical laboratory Equipments.
MINERAL EXPLORATION Rs
8.00 lakhs
An outlay of Rs 8.00 lakhs has been approved and
earmarked to carry out the following Plan schemes and meet expenses
and other charges.
Contour Survey and utility services mapping works
of Namchi and its Suburbs, South Sikkim.
Contour Mapping works of Rongni Chu catchment areas
and tributaries from Singtam to Sangkhola, East Sikkim.
Dimensional stone cutting and polishing.
Investigation and estimation of Phali Dara Dolomite
deposit.
Operation of Lime Kiln.
CAPITAL SECTION
1. Construction of Laboratory: Rs
3.00 lakhs
A provision of Rs 3.00 lakhs has been approved and
earmarked to take up extension works of laboratory building of the
Department for upgradation of laboratory facilities and creation of
additional office space.
(II) Investment in Public Sector Undertakings:
Investment in Sikkim Mining Corporation Rs
50.00 lakhs
A provision of Rs 50.00 lakhs has been approved of
and set aside for equity investment in Sikkim Mining Corporation,
Rangpo by the Government of Sikkim during the current financial year.
However, the Government of Sikkim has to invest a
sum of Rs 69.00 lakhs in the Sikkim Mining Corporation during the
current financial year to complete its share of investment under the
authorised capital of Rs 10.00 crores in the 51:49 per cent ownership
ratio. Additionally, as sum of Rs 32.00 lakhs is required to make
the payment of 50% of the arrears of Pay Revision from 1996 to the
employees of Sikkim Mining Corporation, as promised by the Government
of Sikkim.
