PRADHAN MANTRI GRAMODAY YOJANA
The annual budget outlay for the year 2002-2003 is
Rs 599.00 lakhs for Nutrition component under Special Nutrition Programme
(PMGY) out of which Rs 550.00 lakhs (Rupees five crores fifty lakhs)
only has been projected for Special Nutrition Programme, Rs 29.00
lakhs has been provided from State Plan as supplementary grant and
Rs 20.00 lakhs has been provided for Director and Administration.
SPECIAL NUTRITION PROGRAMME (PMGY)
As usual supplementary feeding programme for the
beneficiaries of 500 ICDS centres and Non ICDS centres areas i/e 6
month – 3 years children, pregnant and nursing mothers, 3-6 years
children of 500 ICDS Centres, children attending Monastic school (tribal
beneficiaries/BAP/Creche has been started from April 2002 as per the
guidelines of Government of India and Planning and Development Department,
Government of Sikkim. The break up of the proposed/approved budget
outlay i.e. Rs 579.00 lakhs (Rupees five crores seventy-nine lakhs)
only is distributed on different food items of supplementary feeding
programme are as follows:-
1. WEANING FOOD: Under weaning food, the beneficiaries
to be covered are 6 month-3 years children, pregnant and nursing mothers
of 500 ICDS Centres and Non ICDS areas respectively for 300 days/
annum.
a) ICDS Beneficiaries:

10,780 x Rs 5.00 x 300 = 1,61,70,000/-

2. MILK: Beneficiaries to be covered are all
the children of 3-6 years who are attending ICDS Centres for 300 days/annum.

3. SOYABEAN BISCUIT:-
Beneficiaries to be covered are the children of 3-6
years who are attending 500 ICDS centres, children attending monastic
school (tribal children) BAP and Creche for 6 days/months and 12 days/month
respectively.

Hence, the actual fund required for 3 different items
for supplementary feeding programme under PMGY and State Plan is as

As compare to approved outlay i/e Rs 579.00 (550
lakhs under PMGY and under State Plan) the actual budget requirement
is Rs 7,83,44,388/- thus, if the feeding programme has to be implemented
successfully and smoothly, the Women and Child Development Division,
Department of Social Welfare requires an additional/ supplementary
fund amounting to Rs 2,04,44,388/- (Rupees two crores four lakhs forty-four
thousand three hundred eighty-eight) only.
DIRECTION AND ADMINISTRATION (IEG)
The activities to be covered under Direction and
Administration is IEC i.e. Breast Feeding Week Programme, National
Nutrition Week, Integrated Nutrition Education Camp, Orientation Training
Camp, Nutrition Awareness Camp, honorarium and other allied programmes
for which Rs 20.00 lakhs (Rupees twenty lakhs) only was proposed.
